I am currently a pediatric anesthesiologist at Children's Hospital, Oakland (CHO). I am responsible for the preoperative anesthetic preparation of patients, care of patients during the administration of anesthesia or sedation in the operating rooms, radiology suites and cardiac catheterization laboratory at CHO, care of patients with traumatic injuries in the emergency room at CHO (the hospital is a pediatric trauma center), and post-operative pain management of patients on the acute pain service at CHO. In addition, I care for patients in the same manner at a freestanding MRI and in private dental offices in the San Francisco Bay Area. I also teach residents and fellow in anesthesia, pediatrics, and emergency medicine during their rotations at CHO in preopertive anesthetic preparation, administration of anesthesia and post-operative pain management of patients.
I am Co-Director of the Acute Pain Service and work in conjunction with the other Co-Director and our Pain Nurse Practicioner to educate or consult with physicians and nurses throughout the hospital in caring for patients with acute post-surgical or post-traumatic pain, follow up on quality assurance issues and act as liason between the Division of Anesthesia and other departments in provding care for patients with acute pain.
