Arriving by Plane

For those arriving by plane, the airport nearest to the Fairfield Inn is the San Jose International Airport (SJC). Flying into San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and/or Oakland International Airport (OAK) are also viable choices, however, we suggest consulting Google Maps or other sources to estimate driving times, rideshare costs, and public transit options for your expected dates and time of travel. The time of day and prevailing traffic patterns can greatly impact these estimates and may influence your choice of airport.

Arriving by Car

We expect many local attendees to arrive by car, and some attendees arriving by plane may wish to rent a car for added flexibility. Parking at the hotel is free, but it is not unlimited, so we suggest carpooling whenever possible.

Arriving by Train

Amtrak serves the Bay Area via San Jose and Emeryville. The hotel may be reached from the San Jose station via bus, lightrail, or a short Uber/Lyft ride. The Emeryville hub connects to San Jose via the Capital Corridor commuter train. Please consult Amtrak.com for more information if you are interested in this option. Please note that your reunion organizers do not have a lot of experience using this service.

Ground Transportation in the Bay Area

Due to the high concentration of NYSC alumni in the area, and wide variety of activity choices, we plan to arrange carpool groups based on interest for various activities. Depending on the activities you choose, you might be using Light Rail to travel to downtown San Jose (stops next to hotel), Caltrain to go to San Francisco, BART/Muni within San Francisco or carpools to travel to activities not easily served by mass transit.

Rental Car: Please consult specific carriers for rates at area locations/airports. While a rental car will give you transportation flexibility, we have tried to design the reunion such that renting a car is not required for attendees flying to SJC for the reunion. We will be polling potential attendees and arranging carpools with local attendees wherever needed. Depending on attendance and need, we may decide to rent a larger van to facilitate transport for visitors who do not have a car.
