Soham Roy (PA 2011)
Science is and has always been very near and dear to my heart. I've been asking questions about how the world works and attempting to answer them since I was five years old. During my time at NYSC in 2011, I met so many people who share the same sentiment, and forged friendships that will last a lifetime, all based around this mutual respect and love for asking questions. Over the last year, it has become increasingly apparent that much of the country, including several members of the Executive and Legislative branches have never had the opportunity to learn what an integral tool science is the evolution of society and technology - and this is all the more reason for the NYSC and NYSCAA to continue its mission to educate and enlighten the scientific minds of tomorrow. As a 2011 alumni and someone who loves to share my passion for learning with others, I would love to help ensure that the NYSC and its alumni continue in its endeavors and science camp continues to be as awesome as it has always been.

Chelsea Maher (AL 2010; Staph 2014-2015)
I would like to serve on the Board of Advisors because I’d like to be a more involved alumna now that life doesn’t afford me time to be a staph member. Camp is something that I’m passionate about and talk about it to anyone that will listen. Attending camp and working for the foundation set me on the path to work with adult and teen volunteers at a science center whose mission is to increase science literacy and 21st century skills.

Robert “Bob” Taft (Staph 1980-1982,1984)
The NYSCAA is a clan of talented individuals. A few thousand folk have been through a blender of science, natural beauty, acceptance, mutual support, fun and frolic which uniquely qualifies them to work wonders in the world. I would like to be a candidate for the Board of Advisors (BOA) to be able to help this clan to network together and continue the work of socializing scientist and raising the science of society. In addition to my staph years, I have spent the last 12 years supporting US Navy STEM efforts from grade school robotics and ROVs through high school autonomous vehicle camps.

When I encounter a parasitic flatworm or see the tail of a dolphin, I think of Science Camp. Science Camp has always felt like an astonishing piece of luck, a fluke. In 1983, the Camp did not exist, but some very dedicated people resurrected the NYSC and I was selected to represent Missouri in 1984. I returned to Missouri, "The Cave State", and fell into caving. Lucky for me, I now had a skill and applied for Staph. I returned as a Staph member in 1986 and worked various summers in the 80's and 90's. Eventually, I grew up, went to law school, and began working.
In May of 2017, an unexpected gift was given to me. Science Camp called in search of a Caving Coordinator. It had been 21 years, but I took a leave and returned to our beloved Science Camp. While some things are different, the magic was the same. I'd like to serve on the Alumni board to ensure that the future of Science Camp is not a fluke.
